Cocktail Bar Massimo, Korcula

If sitting on a 14th century tower, sipping a glass of wine while watching the sun set over the Adriatic sea is on your bucket list, then Korcula is on your bucket list. At a short 2 hour ferry ride from Dubrovnik, it’s worth the trip to see the quaint town with its old stone walls and shop all the local art stores. And to make planning the perfect trip to Korcula easy for you, here’s my quick essential guide for what to do in Korcula, Croatia! And you can read details on everywhere we stayed/ate/drank here, or details on what we did here if you’d like all the detailed logistics on how to work it into your trip and to read my thoughts on the city!

And if you’d like to see how to fit Korcula into your full itinerary, you can check out my perfect two(ish) week itinerary here!

We only stayed at San Teodoro, but these are other places we have on our radar for next time! My main concerns when booking a hotel are clean rooms in a great location – and these seem to hit the mark on both of those!

Shop the local art

Your only complaint about this is going to be that it’s too hard to decide which art to buy because there’s so many great options and limited luggage space! But my favorite shops were Alba Workshop, Tara Gallery, and Vapor Gallery.

Hike to Panorama Korcula

Take in all those red roofs from above and enjoy a nice, easy hike to get there!

Swim the many beaches

Korcula is an island, so there’s no shortage of beaches! So bring your suit and take a dip in the Adriatic!

Climb St. Mark’s Cathedral

Take in the view from the highest point in town, looking out over old town and the sea beyond!

Try all the local wineries

Book a tour, drive yourself, or ride a bike along the island to try all the different wineries!

Hop from island to island

Don’t just stay on Korcula! Book an island hopping tour, or get on a water taxi to one of the other nearby islands for a day trip!

Read my full reviews of the places we ate and specifics on what we ordered, how much it cost, and whether or not you need cash or a reservation! But these are the places you should add to your must try list!

How long do I need in Korcula?

We had almost exactly 24 hours in Korcula, and while that was more than enough time for old town exploration and to go see the viewpoint, I would have loved an extra day to do either a wine tour, an island hopping tour, or both. So if you have interest in doing either one of those, or plan to spend a day swimming, I’d suggest adding in an extra night/day.

How do I get to Korcula?

It’s an island, so you have to take a ferry. We opted for TP Line, and booked our tickets here. While our ferry had plenty of empty seats, I read that they can fill up during peak season. I’d suggest buying your tickets ahead of time, just to be safe.

Do I need to make dinner reservations?

We didn’t make reservations in Korcula and were just fine. However, I could see it getting quite busy during peak season. If you’re there during summer months, it may be worth making reservations if there’s somewhere you know you want to go. If you’d like to see where we ate and where I recommend, check out my blog about where we ate!

Will I be able to get around easily speaking English?

Like the rest of Croatia, you won’t have any issue communicating in English!

Will I need a lot of cash?

The only place that was cash only for us was Massimo Cocktail Bar. Other than that, credit cards were widely accepted.

Where else should I go in Croatia?

Great question! We fell in love with different places all over Croatia, and you probably will too! While we visited Dubrovnik, Korcula, Split, Rovinj, and Zagreb, other popular places to visit are Hvar, Trogir, and Zadar. To see details of where we went, you can see my full Croatia and Slovenia trip itinerary here!
